Teacher Prep
Description
Teacher Prep students will explore the teaching profession and related occupations. Students will learn and practice effective classroom management strategies, lesson planning, problem solving, communication and use of technology. The course prepares them for a six-week internship that offers a hands-on opportunity to work with students in the classroom setting. College and university site visited provide them with experiences to successfully continue their education at the college level.
This 525 hour program is completed in one year and can be taken by high school juniors and seniors. Program certifications will allow you to begin working immediately in a classroom setting or will give an early advantage for acceptance into a college education program.
Scheduling Information
High School Juniors & Seniors:
High School Students:
1 year: August-May
Attend 1 of 2 sessions
8:00-11:00am or 12:00-3:00pm
Application Process
High School Students: Applications can be obtained in the counseling offices of your local high school and returned to your high school counselor.
Employment Opportunities
SWTC builds partnerships with business and industry in the southwest Oklahoma area to find opportunities for work-based experiences and student placement. Successful graduates can find employment in an educational entity, or continue education at the collegiate level.
