At Southwest Tech we are always working to meet the needs of students and help them to reach higher excellence. This week SWTC awarded the Next Experience in Training Scholarship to five adult students, waiving up to 1,000 hours of tuition. The scholarship is given to students who show leadership, hard-work, and a drive to complete their education. Recipients must have a high school diploma, have maintained a 2.5 GPA, or obtained a high school equivalency diploma. As a way to push students and prepare them for a job after graduation, the scholarship requires all recipients to maintain satisfactory academic progress, and must attend 90% of all class, clinical instruction, and lab.
Superintendent Mr. Latham says "Southwest Tech administration and Board of Education are always looking for ways to be able to assist students in ways to be able to attend one of our programs that will enable the individual to go out and get a job. Too many students do not know what they want to do for a career when they get out of high school so the SWTC Administrative Team decided to offer an opportunity for students up to the age of 21 to be able to return to SWTC to get any training that they may have missed by not attending during their high school years. That new opportunity is the NEXT Scholarship."
The SWTC Leadership team would like to congratulate the following recipient’s: Ivory Lewis-Automotive, Orlando Telles-Aviation, Ryan Rogers-Aviation, Nathan Self-Construction, Samara Raiden-Entrepreneurship.
