Each year the Teacher Prep program at Southwest Tech participates in the Children's Day activities at the JacksonCounty Fair. This year's Jackpot Fair provided a creative outlet for the students as the designed and prepared the booth for Friday's event. Students in the Teacher Prep program are interested in pursuing a career in education and this program allows them to explore the profession while they are still in high school. During the year long class, students learn classroom management, lesson planning, classroom design, write, illustrate and publish a children's book, participate in a six week internship at their respective school, along with many other activities pertinent to becoming an educator. Carol Walker, Tech Prep Instructor said, "Having my students at the Jackson County Fair allows them to experience what it is like to be surrounded with grade school aged students and engaging them in fun activities."
21 students participated in the Children's Day activities on Friday providing area youth fun with coloring sheets, games, temporary tattoos and overall interactions and monitoring activities.
