Southwest Tech is proud to announce the recognition of Kia Beauford, a current Cosmetology student, who has been awarded the NEXT Scholarship. The scholarship, valued at $2500, includes a 1000-hour tuition waiver.
Kia Beauford, a 2022 graduate of Altus High School, just began her tenure at Southwest Tech. Her aspirations include opening her own salon in Washington after obtaining her Cosmetology license. This achievement is a testament to Southwest Tech's commitment to meeting the needs of students and fostering higher excellence.
This scholarship, designed to waive up to 1,000 hours of tuition, is granted to individuals who demonstrate leadership, hard work, and a strong drive to complete their education.
To be eligible for the NEXT Scholarship, recipients must hold a high school diploma, maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, or possess a high school equivalency diploma. The scholarship aims to prepare students for successful careers by requiring them to maintain satisfactory academic progress and attend 90% of all classes, clinical instructions, and labs.
Mr. Latham, Superintendent at Southwest Tech, expressed the institution's commitment to assisting students in pursuing their career goals. "Southwest Tech administration and the Board of Education are always looking for ways to assist students in attending our programs. The NEXT Scholarship provides an opportunity for students up to the age of 21 to return to Southwest Tech for any training they may have missed during their high school years."
