Teach 2 Lead

Southwest Technology Center had the honor of hosting a Teach 2 Lead seminar today, Thursday, October 10, 2024, for new Career Tech teachers from across the state. This professional development event, offered through the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, provided beginning teachers with essential tools and strategies to excel in the modern workforce and educational landscape.

With the value of Career Tech education at an all time high, there is a growing number of industry professionals entering the CareerTech field as educators. The Teach 2 Lead program is designed to deliver timely and focused professional development to these individuals as they prepare to share their industry knowledge and skillset with students. The program aims to support these new teachers by equipping them with key competencies in:

  • Classroom management

  • Instructional planning

  • Instructional strategies

  • Classroom assessment

Teach 2 Lead Highlights:

  • Interactive Workshops: Participants engaged in hands-on learning sessions centered around practical teaching skills and classroom success strategies.

  • Professional Learning Community: The event facilitated the formation of a statewide network of new teachers, fostering a strong support system.

  • On-Site Coaching: Workshop instructors will conduct follow-up visits to participants’ schools, offering personalized feedback and guidance.

  • Collaborative Support: Teach 2 Lead ensures ongoing support in collaboration with participants' school administrators and mentor teachers, further enhancing their teaching experience.

The Teach 2 Lead seminar is part of a statewide initiative aimed at preparing teachers to deliver high-quality education in a rapidly evolving career and technical education landscape.
