Sophomores from Altus, Blair, Duke, Granite, Hollis, Mangum, Navajo, and Olustee/Eldorado visited Southwest Tech’s campus this week to explore Career Tech education opportunities and begin preparing for their futures. These students are making important decisions about their career paths, and Southwest Tech provided an engaging, hands-on experience to help guide their choices.
During the tours, students participated in hands-on activities across various programs, giving them real-world insights into what it’s like to be a Southwest Tech student. From exploring healthcare and cosmetology to trying out automotive and welding skills, these activities showcased the diverse career pathways available at Southwest Tech.
“We love hosting our district sophomores and giving them a glimpse of the exciting opportunities they can pursue,” said Christie Rogers, Director of Student Services at Southwest Tech. “Career Tech education equips students with the skills, certifications, and/or college credits they need to succeed in the workforce or in higher education.”
At Southwest Tech, district 11th and 12th graders attend tuition-free while earning high school credits towards graduation. In addition to hands-on training, students can gain workforce certifications and even college credits on some courses, positioning them for success in their chosen fields.
Through this tour, sophomores learned how Southwest Tech can help them achieve their goals and discovered pathways that align with their interests and aspirations.
