Southwest Tech Graphic Design Program: Bringing Creativity to Life

Southwest Technology Center’s Graphic Design program is where creativity meets technology. Under the leadership of Instructor Janine MacSporran, students gain hands-on experience using industry-standard software, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. The program equips students with the skills needed for image editing, vector drawing, page layout, digital printing, and photography, preparing them for careers in the ever-evolving field of graphic design.

Janine MacSporran brings a passion for real-world learning into her classroom, ensuring students get more than just textbook knowledge. Through projects like on-location photography assignments and design collaborations, students develop a professional portfolio while experiencing what it takes to work in the industry.

Beyond classroom instruction, the program offers students opportunities for professional growth and leadership. Many students participate in SkillsUSA, where they compete, build leadership skills, and develop career readiness in a supportive, team-oriented environment. MacSporran also takes learning beyond the classroom, organizing field trips and industry visits to provide students with behind-the-scenes insights into the world of graphic design.

With a strong foundation in technical skills, creative problem-solving, and industry connections, Southwest Tech’s Graphic Design program prepares students to turn their artistic vision into a rewarding career.
