The visit included a briefing on the valuable educational and training opportunities provided by Southwest Tech and a comprehensive tour of our campus facilities.
The presence of Altus Air Force Base's top leadership at Southwest Tech underscores the crucial partnership between our institution and the U.S. Air Force. The day began with a comprehensive briefing on the diverse range of programs available at Southwest Tech, highlighting the significant role our institution plays in supporting the educational and career development of military personnel and their dependents. Southwest Tech Awarded $25,000 Grant by the American Welding Society to Enhance Welding Program
Southwest Tech is thrilled to announce that they have been selected as a recipient of a generous $25,000 grant from the American Welding Society (AWS). This grant will empower Southwest Tech to invest in the enhancement of our Metal Fabrication/Welding program, making it one of the most comprehensive welding education programs in Southwest Oklahoma.
The Metal Fabrication/Welding program has consistently been one of the most sought-after programs at Southwest Tech, evidenced by the current wait list for adult enrollment. To meet the increasing demand and ensure that students receive the best hands-on training available, Southwest Tech has consistently invested in the latest equipment and training tools.
With the generous grant from AWS, Southwest Tech will acquire four state-of-the-art Miller Welders, which will further elevate the quality of hands-on training in both the daytime and evening programs. This investment will significantly benefit students, providing them with more exposure to various types of welders they may encounter in the workforce and on the job.
The acquisition of Miller Welders will allow Southwest Tech students to master a wider range of welding techniques and equipment, preparing them to excel in their future careers. The addition of these welders will ensure that Southwest Tech graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving needs of the welding industry and local employers.
Southwest Tech is deeply grateful for the support of the American Welding Society, and is excited about the opportunities that this grant will create for the students and the community. Southwest Tech remains dedicated to excellence in education, and with the acquisition of the Miller Welders, will continue to provide top-notch training for aspiring welders in Southwest Oklahoma.

One of the biggest challenges in the cosmetology industry is being able to work effectively with people that you aren't comfortable with or doing things that make you think outside of the box. Today, we drew names and got into groups of three and had to use craft supplies provided for us. This was a fun challenge for everyone and ended with lots of laughs. 💓🤪
